Angel paper placemats for preschoolers are enjoyable to make together with your child, and make for a creative way to help trim the table any time of year. These are very easy to make using clear contact, construction paper, crayons, markers, a stick of glue and stickers. Your favorite preschooler will feel very proud of their handiwork.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large piece of colored paper
  • Small piece of white construction paper
  • Bits of yarn
  • 4 feathers
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Crayons or markers
  • Clear contact
  1. Step 1

Cut the angel body. Cut a big white triangle for the body and one smaller white circle for the head.

  2. Step 2

Have the preschooler lay the triangle body on a large sheet of colored construction paper. Have her use a stick of glue across the angel body turn it over and lay it on the colored construction paper.

  3. Step 3

Glue the head to the body. Have your child glue the head and stick it on in the large colored piece of paper near the top of the body piece. Show him how to lift the sides of the triangle to insert the feathers (two per side) which will serve as wings.

  4. Step 4

Attach the bits of yarn with the glue stick around the head to simulate hair, and cut a small strip of white paper or tinfoil for the halo. Color in hands, feet and a face with the crayons or markers. Your preschooler can add flower stickers and write her name on this colored paper. Your preschooler can color flowers or little stars on this paper to make it truly unique, or you can add in a photograph of the child or a favorite pet.

  5. Step 5

Cut a piece of the clear contact paper and lay it flat on a table (sticky side up) and lay the angel paper on it upside down, then smooth these two together. Cut another piece of clear contact and use it on the back so that your placemat becomes waterproof.

Tips & Warnings
  • With the addition of the clear contact paper covering, it is easy to wipe clean after your preschooler eats his dinner.
  • This personalized angel place mat can also double as a play mat for your preschooler when they play with play dough or clay.
