Visit Brazil. The passionate Brazilians can make the ideal mate. Looking to catch one? The natural step is to visit Brazil. Varig is the national airline of Brazil so booking a flight with them will place the traveler with lots of locals and native Brazilians. Who knows, you might even find love on the plane?

  2. Step 2

Learn the language. Before you visit the country or court a Brazilian - learn Portuguese. Having any Spanish or Italian background will help but the beautiful Portuguese language is very different. Immersing yourself in the country will help but having some experience and familiarity with words before visiting the country can go a long way in finding a Brazilian mate to marry. Rosetta Stone has a great Portuguese language course and visiting your local library for language tapes works well too.

  3. Step 3

Research the culture and customs. When in Rio. Do as the Brazilians do. Brasileros are a friendly and passionate people. Do your research on line and look for places locals hang out. The Brazilians LOVE their late nights - partying and hanging out into the late hours. If in Rio be sure to hang out in Copacabana Beach (posto 9 has the most beautiful Brazilians - male and female) a place for natives, not just tourists. In Sao Paolo you will find a variety of options to meet the locals. Stay in different cities, travel around, make friends and it won't be long before you have several options lined up.

  4. Step 4

Attract a mate. As mentioned above learning the "carioca" culture and customs is important. Brazilians tend to greet each other with a handshake, but good friends often embrace. Women usually kiss each other on both cheeks, although in reality they may actually only touch cheeks and kiss the air. Common greetings are Como vai? (“How are you?”) and Tudo bern? (“Is everything fine?”). Friends may greet each other with a simple Oi (“Hi”). When joining or leaving a small group, it is polite to shake hands with everyone present. Tcháu (“Good-bye”) or Até logo (“See you soon”) are common terms for parting. Brazilians are an open and outgoing group and they will most likely let you know of their interest right away.

  5. Step 5

Move to Brazil. If you can afford to do so - move to Brazil for six months up to a year. There are numerous opportunities to teach English abroad. This allows plenty of time to find and marry a Brazilian. Brazil travel visas are good for six months so you will have to leave the country around the six month mark and then re-enter. Perfect time to take a vacation with your Brazilian sweetie!

  6. Step 6

Date online first. If going to Brazil isn't in the cards try an on line Brazilian dating web site. Parperfeito is one of the most popular but it does require basic knowledge of Portugese. Babelfish is an on line translator that can help while getting started learning Portugese. The site specializes in Brazilians looking for foreigners. The best tip in using an on line site is to put some effort into your profile and even pay the advanced fee which is $15 a month to give you access to more people and options.

  7. Step 7

Try your city. There are numerous Brazilian communities around the United States in Southern California and Miami for example Brazilian colonies of ex-pats have taken root and a number of festivals and activities will give you the opportunity to find your mate and marry the Brazilian of your dreams.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is EXTREMELY difficult for an American citizen to get married in Brazil to a Brazilian. It isn't out of the question, but it isn't doable in a whirlwind weekend or even week. Weigh that when deciding what location is best suitable for your wedding.
  • Be careful if visiting the country of Brazil. Make sure the guy or gal you fall head over heels for is truly reciprocating the love and not just looking for a green card and a free trip to the US, Canada or whatever country he or she desires.
  • DON'T visit Brazil during Carnaval. Rio de Janeiro is overcome with tourists and the party may be the best opportunity for short term romance but not long term love or marriage.
  • Beware of prostitutes. Men looking for a Brazilian love match MUST beware the infamous prostitutes of Brazil, primarily Rio. Copocabana beach is breathtakingly beautiful but many of the sexy women who hang out here are prostitutes. They tend to sit in groups and flash you inviting smiles and call out to come and join them. They may even come over to you. Copacabana is famous for its sex scene and many locals find it all kind of sleazy. The general rule of thumb for Brazilians seems to be that the prosititutes come on very strong, wear way too much makeup and are all over you. Brazilian girls like the chase and won't be giving off a strong, sleazy vibe. Just don't lose site of your goal and your wallet!
