Things You'll Need:
- phone book
- paper
- pen
- phone
- computer with internet access
-
Step 1
Lookup insurance in the yellow pages of your phone book. Pick an insurance agency to call.
-
Step 2
Call a local insurance agent and ask for a free quote. Write down your 1st quote on your piece of paper.
-
Step 3
Ask the agent if there is any coverage you can delete from your quote such as uninsured motorist, med pay, towing, rental, roadside assistance.
-
Step 4
Ask about excluding the high risk drivers on your policy. If you exclude a driver, that person will not be covered to drive your vehicle.
-
Step 5
Ask about assigning high risk drivers such as your children to lower risk cars with less coverage.
-
Step 6
Ask about discounts such as homeowners, prior coverage, good student, multiple line and multiple policy discounts.
-
Step 7
Repeat these steps with several companies from the phone book. Be sure to call large companies such as State Farm and Allstate, but also be sure to call independent agents for a larger selection of quotes.
-
Step 8
Go online and enter your information for free quotes from companies like Netquote.
