How to Make an Online Picture Gallery Using Photoshop

An online gallery is a great way to share pictures from your vacation, your child's birthday party, holidays or just for fun. Posting your images online eliminates the need for costly duplicates and expensive postage to mail them to friends and family.       Begin by opening Photoshop, then click on the "File." You can select this directly by pressing Alt+F.

      From the drop down menu highlight "Automate" and then select "Web Photo Gallery" from the sub-menu. To reach this without a mouse, use the down-arrow key to highlight "Automate" then press the right-arrow key to access the sub-menu. You can then use the down-arrow to highlight the "Web Photo Gallery" option and then press "Enter."

      From the "Web Photo Gallery" details menu, use the "Styles" drop-down menu to view samples of the various gallery templates available. Click on the different names to bring up a small sample on the right side. You can access this menu by pressing Alt+Y and then using your up and down arrows to scroll through the options.

      The "Source Images" section will allow you to select the directory where you have stored your images, as well as to define which directory the new images will be saved in. Alt+U take you to this section as well.

      Using the "Tab" key will take you down to the"'Options" menu. Here you can define such options as a banner name for your gallery, custom colors, security options, image sizes and more. Take some time to explore each option and customize your gallery to your tastes.

      Once you've completed customizing your gallery, press "OK" to start the Photoshop automation process. When it is done, it will open a sample of your gallery. It will also create a folder with all of the files necessary to produce your gallery. Upload this folder to your Internet hosting server and access the gallery using the "index.html" file.

  • Reduce the size of your images to make them fit on the screen.

  • Don't forget to add a banner and descriptions of your images for friends and family.

  • Make different galleries for each vacation or holiday to share.

  • Don't include too many photos in one gallery. It will be cumbersome to navigate.
