1
Determine the scent you want. For example, choose jasmine- or lavender-scented oils for their calming effect. Orange and ylang-ylang help to manage anger. Grapefruit and sandalwood aid in fighting fear.
-
2
Mix ¼ cup of vodka and five drops of the fragranced oil in a small glass container. You may need to add more oil or use less, depending on how strong you want the fragrance.

3
Put the lid on the container and allow the mixture to stand for 48 hours if you want a light scent, or up to one month if you want a strong fragrance.
-
4
Measure 2 tbsp. of distilled water, and add it to the mixture. Add more water if the fragrance is too strong. Continue adding 1 tbsp. at a time until you achieve the desired strength.

5
Consider adding 1 tbsp. of glycerin. It’ll help the fragrance last longer.

Tips & Warnings
Perfume requires approximately 20 percent fragranced (scented) oil, 75 percent pure grain alcohol (may use vodka) and 5 percent distilled water.
Scented oils are normally less expensive. If you want a natural perfume, look for 100 percent essential oils. They cost a little more but don’t contain any chemicals.
Find vintage perfume bottles at thrift stores, fill them with your signature perfume and give as gifts.
