Step 1
Take a picnic basket with you to the park. This way you can help make the food (or buy it) and enjoy it together at the park, without having to leave it to have lunch elsewhere. Having a picnic lunch at the park is not only fun, but also a great way to talk to you dad and get to know him better. Have snacks prepared also and make sure you have something that you know is your dad's favorite. If you are old enough, feel free to pack some beers or wine.

Step 2
Bring a football or maybe some kites that you and your dad can both play with in the open fields of the park. Pick something that you know your dad would enjoy. For example, if your dad can't run around the way he used to, pick something such as a kite or remote controlled airplanes that you can play together. If you dad is athletic, take a volleyball, football or soccer ball to kick and throw around. Nothing beats a little bit of family competition and fun.

Step 3
Take a walk around the park if you and your father feel that you just want to hang out and talk, or you can pack a blanket that you and your dad can lay on. This will be a great way to have a relaxing time with your father. Ask your dad questions about his life and his childhood; this is not only a great way to focus the attention on him on Father's Day, but also a great way for you to show your dad you really care about him as a person. Your father will not only appreciate this, but will probably remember having a good time with his child/children.
