Things You'll Need:
- one or two fresh and ripe pumpkins
- knife
- potato peeler
- cheesecloth
- wooden frames
- oven or food dehydrator
- food processor or blender
- airtight container
-
Step 1
Choose one or more firm ripe pumpkins.
-
Step 2
Remove the seeds, strings, and skin from the pumpkin and slice it thinly.
-
Step 3
Preheat the oven to the lowest setting or 140F (60C) degrees. Stretch cheesecloth over wooden frames (metal is not good to use) and arrange pumpkin slices in a single layer with a little space between each slice. Place in the oven, diagonal to each other if using two trays. Keep the oven door open a couple of inches to let the heat and moisture escape. Switch the trays around often to make sure they dry evenly.
-
Step 4
Put the dried pumpkin slices into a blender. You may wish to chop or crush them up first. Blend the pumpkin until it turns into powder. You may need to do this in batches.
-
Step 5
Keep your pumpkin flour in a sealed container in a cool dry place. A large tupperware container or jar would work well.
