Applesauce cake makes a good breakfast option or dessert. It's also versatile: You can mix and match spices to alter the flavor.
Things You'll Need
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup softened margarine
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups applesauce
- 1 cup raisins
- 9-inch-square pan
Cream together the sugar and margarine in a medium bowl.
Add the applesauce and mix.
Add all of the dry ingredients and stir until blended.
Add the raisins.
Pour the mixture into the pan and bake at 350 degrees for one half to three quarters of an hour. Cake will be very moist.
Let cool, sprinkle with confectioner' s sugar or leave plain. Serve alone or with whipped topping or ice cream.
