Peaches and cream combine to make the quintessential Southern summer dessert. The key is the best and freshest ingredients, so try a pick your own peaches orchard for the ripest fruit and a local dairy for raw cream. Of course, any peaches and cream combination will provide a tasty dessert. You can use regular cream or whipped cream, serve it on a dessert pastry or add vanilla or sugar, but the basics are the best when it comes to a peaches and cream dessert.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh, ripe peaches
  • Cream (raw is best)
  • Dish and spoon
  • Fine sugar (optional)

    Making Peaches and Cream

  1. Step 1

Peel and slice ripe peaches. Arrange peach slices in dessert dishes, totaling about 1-2 peaches per serving.

  2. Step 2

Sprinkle peach slices with fine sugar, if desired. The sugar is optional, as ripe peaches are sweet enough on their own.

  3. Step 3

Removed chilled cream from the refrigerator. Fresh, raw cows milk cream is best, and can be scraped off the top of milk after the cream rises to the top. You can also use heavy whipping cream from the store or half and half.

  4. Step 4

Pour 1/4 cup of cream over each serving of peaches.

  5. Step 5

Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to an hour before serving. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Try whipping your cream for peaches and whipped cream. Add a little sugar and vanilla to the cream once it is almost fully whipped.
