How to Save Money on Pet Food

Your pets will love it. Your pet food sales people won't, if they're greedy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Mix left overs with your pet's dry food. That means your pet is going to eat less dry pet food per day. That also means your going to donate less money per month to pet food sales people.
Step2
Consider the cons, you've heard about feeding pets scraps and consider who started these rumors. (You've heard how bad scraps are for pets, by who)? You see a printed read out of all the healthy nutrients that are in expensive pet foods and of course extra special ingredients for kittens and puppies, and aren't many of these ingredients obtained from what could be classified as scraps?
Step3
Consider the pros, a main ingredient of many dry pet foods is corn meal and animal flavorings. Can this be simulated by mingling in meat scraps and pouring animal grease onto day old cornbread? I think so.

Tips & Warnings

  • I've had cats and dogs that liked green beans and sour kraut for a change of pace.
  • How boring would you be, if you was fed the same meal, every time, every day, all year long?
  • If kittens and puppies can only survive, if they're fed special foods for the young, how did the young pets grow up in previous centuries?
  • A reason some pets may live longer by eating only pet food, is because of owner abuse. If you offer a pet too much good tasting food, it may become overweight and have heart problems. A fat cat might not be able to get away from a cat killing dog. Don't over use your pet as a garbage disposal.
  • Don't feed a dog chicken bones or small pork bones; they might get choked. Give them to cats, that can eat and do love chicken bones.

on 7/28/2008 Good points. I'm sick of throwing out leftovers, and then buying a $30 bag of food for the dog. We fed scraps to our pets growing up, but I heard it's bad for our pure bred dog. Of course that piece of info comes from someone selling the $30 bag of food.
