You can make massage oil from essential oils. You will need to have a carrier oil and some selected essential oils to meet your needs or aroma preferences.

  • Essential Oils
  • Carrier Oil
  • Glass Bottle
  1. Step 1

    Choose your essential oil. Essential oils can be selected based on aroma or for a specific medicinal purpose. If you need help choosing an essential oil, there is a link in the resource section below on "How to Use 11 Common Essential Oils."

  2. Step 2

    Choose your carrier oil. To make a massage oil, you will need to choose a carrier oil, or an oil to distribute the essential oil evenly on the skin. Here is a list of common carrier oils. It is safe to use olive or vegetable oil that you have in your cupboard. They are usually more economical.

    *Sweet Almond Oil
    *Apricot Kernel Oil
    *Avocado Oil
    *Borage Seed Oil
    *Olive Oil
    *Peanut Oil
    *Evening Primrose Oil
    *Fractionated Coconut Oil
    *Rose Hip Oil
    *Grapeseed Oil
    *Sesame Oil
    *Sunflower Oil
    *Jojoba Oil

  3. Step 3

    Mix the essential oil with the carrier oil at the ratios below. The oils should be mixed in a glass jar with a tight fitting lid.

    *2-5 drops essential oil : 1 teaspoon carrier oil
    *6-15 drops essential oil : 1 tablespoon carrier oil
    *24-60 drops essential oil : 1/4 cup oil
