Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Paper
- Pen
- Time to write notes
Step1
Accept that notes have to written. Get in the mindset that if you receive a gift, a thank you note has to be written. Basically, Gift = Thank you note.
Step2
Plan time and sit down and write the notes. The sooner after the gift has been opened, the better. Once you get started, it won't seem so overwhelming. Follow the guidelines below to start writing sincere notes.
Step3
Write the date on the card. Now the card won't seem so blank!
Step4
Write the opening, such as "Dear ____,". It's amazing how a date and a few words makes the card (and note writing) less intimidating.
Step5
Thank the person for her gift starting with acknowledging the specific gift. Reference the color, size or material as appropriate.
Step6
Describe what is special about the gift. Use descriptive adjectives to discuss where you have put the gift, what you have already used it for, what you will use it to buy (if it is a gift card), and why it was the perfect choice and exactly what you needed.
Step7
Express your appreciation for the person's thoughtfulness, generosity, participation in your event, or how much you are looking forward to seeing the person at your upcoming event. Use one or all all of the above suggestions.
Step8
Sign your name and a sincere note has been written! Before you know it, all your notes will be finished, and your genuine appreciation for the gift will shine through, making you and the gift giver happy!
