Comforting your sick child is quite simple but is very important.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a comfy sofa
  • a soft blanket
  • a childrens movie
  • patience
  • love
  1. Step 1

First off, having a sick child can be challenging, especially if that child is small. A sick child can be cranky, crying, feverish, and very sluggish. First, start with your childs recommended amount of medicine for their age. Be sure to follow the recommended amount on the bottle or prescription. Measure it out and try your best to get your little one to take it all down!

  2. Step 2

Next, take your child to the sofa with a drink. Water is great, but some small children do not like to drink it. Keeping them hydrated while sick is very important especially if they are vomiting or experiencing diarrhea. So basically, any liquid is okay.

  3. Step 3

Then, turn on a favorite movie. My daughter loves to watch Spongebob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer, or Sesame Beginnings. If you do not own any childrens movies just find a television station that plays childrens programming. Find a show your child loves and settle down on the couch with a blanket for added comfort. Put your child on your lap and lay down and enjoy the show! She may even doze off.

  4. Step 4

When my daughter is sick she is very sluggish and whines an awful lot. It sometimes takes added patience to deal with the fact that you can not satisfy your child when she is sick, but I just think about how she must feel. That is why everytime she is sick I make it a point to snuggle with her. It lets her know I care and love her. She enjoys lying there watching television with mom. It may not make her illness better but I'm sure it makes her feel safe and alittle happier. For something that is so sim ple to do, it sure can make a difference!

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure when giving any type of medicine to double check the amount to prevent accidentally giving too high of a dose.
  • Be sure to actually lay or sit with your child, maybe rubbing her back or holding her. Just sitting her down in front of the televsion with a movie will not give the whole affect. Cuddle with her!
