Nowadays everybody is talking about gas mileage and the cost of gas, but what is your car's gas mileage can change.

Here is an easy way to test your car's gas mileage.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Notebook
  • Pen or pencil
  • Enough gas money to fill your tank
  1. Step 1

    Fill up your gas tank completely. As soon as you do this, enter your vehicle's exact mileage into the notebook and write 0 gallons next to it.

  2. Step 2

    Every time you put gas into your vehicle, record how many gallons you have added.

  3. Step 3

    When you have gone through a few tanks of gas, completely fill your tank again and record your vehicles new mileage. Remember to be exact.

  4. Step 4

    Subtract your new mileage from your original mileage. This is your miles traveled.

  5. Step 5

    Add up all the gallons of gasoline. This is you total gallons used.

  6. Step 6

    Divide your miles traveled by your total gallons used. This is your average gas mileage in miles/gallon.

Tips & Warnings
  • The longer you go before calculating everything out, the more accurate your result.
