- carbonated water (such as club soda, seltzer water, sparkling mineral water, ...)
- various flavors of Italian drink syrups (many varieties are usually available in the coffee section at the store)
- half and half (if you want to make an Italian cream soda)
- ice
- whipped cream (optional)

The first step in making an Italian cream soda is to put some ice in a tall glass.

Next, pour the carbonated water (such as club soda, seltzer water, sparkling mineral water, ...) over the ice, but don't fill all the way to the top as you will need room for the half and half later.

Add enough flavor syrup and stir. You may have to experiment with different amounts of syrup to get the flavor strength just the way you like it. Just don't add too much syrup to begin with, otherwise it may be too strong or sweet.
