How to Make Your Own Memory Board
A useful and attractive addition to any room or office space is a memory board. Tuck your photos, concert tickets, and to-do lists into the ribbons for visibility and organization. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Bulletin board with wood border
- Light-loft quilt batting
- Scissors
- 2-3 yards fabric
- Staple gun
- Ribbon
Instructions
-
-
1
Lay your bulletin board on your clean workspace with the cork side face up.
-
2
Lay the quilt batting on top of the bulletin board; trim it so that the batting completely covers the cork surface, but not the wooden frame.
-
-
3
Lay the fabric on top of the bulletin board and batting so that you have at least 2 inches of extra fabric on all sides.
-
4
Holding the three pieces together (fabric, batting and board), flip the whole thing over.
-
5
Take one of the short edges and flip the fabric over the board. Don't pull it, but make sure it's straight.
-
6
Use the staple gun to staple the fabric directly into the wooden frame (it's much stronger than the back of the board). Staple every 2 inches or so; having too many staples is better than too few.
-
7
Go to the opposite edge of the edge you just stapled and pull tightly.
-
8
Staple along this edge of the wooden frame, securing the fabric.
-
9
Repeat steps 7 and 8 on the other edges of the board.
-
10
Add the ribbon, making whatever pattern you like, such as diamonds, squares or random stripes by weaving the ribbons through each other.
-
11
Staple the ends on the back like you did with the fabric. Make the ribbon extra tight or your memories will slip out.

Tips & Warnings
It works best if you have someone to help you pull the fabric tight and smooth.
Remember to trim excess fabric after you staple everything down.
Use the staple gun with care.
