How to get a reservation at The French Laundry

Everyone wants a coveted table at the famous The French Laundry in Yountville, but with only 16 tables, it can be quite a challenge. I've decided to share my secret with all of you. I picked the date I wanted to visit the restaurant and had my reservation in just a few simple steps!!

Things You'll Need:

• computer with internet connection
• alarm clock
• credit card
• computer skills

1. First, you need to pick your date. Remember, tables book out two months' to the date in advance. You can't get a reservation before 2 months to the date, and all tables book up at The French Laundry on the date reservations are able to be made.

2. Once you've decided on a date, you need to go to opentable.com and set up an account (this will save you time later). Opentable.com secures two tables at The French Laundry, tables are available online via OpenTable.com for dinner service, one @ 5:30pm (party of 4) and one @ 9:15pm (party of 4).
   I can't really help you if you aren't a party of 4.

3. Open table releases The French Laundry tables just BEFORE midnight of the next day you are requesting. For example, if you want a reservation for Sunday, September 21, opentable.com will release the two tables at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, July 21. It is a little trick that no one knows about.

4. At about 11:45 p.m., you need to open up three browsers and sign into your open table account in each of the browsers. Then, cue each of them up so that you are requesting a reservation for 7:30 p.m. on your date and so all you have to do is hit the "Find a Table" button. (This way, both the 5:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. show up). At about 11:55 p.m. alternate between all three browser and rotate between each browsers by hitting the "Find a Table" button have open table continuously run searches for your requested reservations using all three browsers. Until they release the tables, the results will show " Your requested date exceeds the maximum advance reservation limit for The French Laundry." While one is searching hit the next browser and have it search and so on...Then, when they release the tables, you can go ahead and confirm your select your table when it pops up. You will be shocked at how easy it is.

Tips & Warnings

• you need a good internet connection
• make sure you have your credit card ready to confirm the reservation when the table becomes available
• don't forget that your clocks could be different from the open table clock. Make sure you give yourself a buffer of at least 3 minutes.
• don't panic.
• allow each open table search to complete before clicking the "Find a table" button again on an unsuccessful search. You don't want to crash out the system and get an error message.
• mMake sure you confirm your reservation within 72 hours of the date or else French Laundry will cancel it!
• remember this is a tip for party of 4.
• you may not be successful. :(
