Step 1
Accelerate slowly.
Don't floor the gas pedal when the light turns green. Accelerate slowly to conserve gas. -
Step 2
Coast to stops.
Avoid going directly from the gas to the brake. When you see a stop approaching, ease off the gas and do as much coasting as possible before braking. -
Step 3
Use cruise control.
When driving on highways or other roads that don't require lots of stops, set your cruise control to avoid unnecessary accelerating and braking. -
Step 4
Watch your speed.
Drive the recommended speed limit. Excessive speeds use more gas and require more braking.
