For single adults it's often a challenge to find a synagogue to attend for the high holidays. Here are a few tips for those who are starting to think about it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Contact with your local Jewish Federation
  1. Step 1

Contact your local Jewish Federation and obtain a listing of the synagogues in your area.

  2. Step 2

Talk with friends or relatives to find out about their experiences with the synagogues they attend in your area.

  3. Step 3

Check out the websites of the congregations that were suggested to find out whether you'd feel comfortable there. Some things to consider are:
    1. Size of the congregation
    2. Denomination
    3. Accepting of gays and lesbians if this is important to you.
    4. Is there a good mix of couples and singles so that you don't feel like the only single person?
    5. Cost of the tickets (some congregations may offer a low cost tickets to someone who might consider joining later).

  4. Step 4

Attend a few of the congregations you've looked at on the web and attend them this summer so you can get a flavor for what style most appeals to you.
