How to make votive candles.

Votive candles can be burned around the house, outside or just about anywhere.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wax suitable for votives
  • Fragrance oil
  • Dye
  • Pre-tabbed wicks suitable for votives (36-24-24 zinc core)
  • Metal votive molds
  • Mold release spray
  • Pouring pot
  • Thermometer
  1. Step 1

    Prepare molten wax mixture. Set up a double boiler to melt your wax. Melt at approximately 175 degrees. Once wax has completely melted add any additives you have selected. Mix thoroughly. Add any additives the that your particular wax formulation calls for.

  2. Step 2

    First add fragrance oil, then dye.

  3. Step 3

    Place votive mold on newspaper. Lightly coat molds with a thin film of mold release. Fill molds to the lip of the mold with wax at the proper temperature.

Tips & Warnings
  • Minimize the number of bubbles introduced while pouring.
  • Be careful handling hot wax.
  • Not free standing. Burn in a votive candle holder.
