Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- garden
- rabbit
- vegetable seeds.
Step1
if you would like to make a rabbit garden you need to provide for the 3 category of rabbit foodstuffs. these are grass or hay, green leaves, and fruits and vegetables. No 2 rabbits are the same, and you may find that most favor one type of food better than another.
Step2
good corn
The first is the grass or hay. this can be a lot of plants anywhere from lawn grass let to grow tall and long, or kudzu leaves(yes, rabbits actually like kudzu), green corn stalks or barley grass. the best way to harvest the lawn grass is to let it grow real tall, like a foot or so, and then cut it off with a box cutter style razor knife. lawn mowers are unsanitary to cut grass in most cases, and can contaminate the clippings with motor oil or gasoline. Grass or hay should make up about 80 percent of the treats you give your rabbits, as it is what there digestive system was made for.
Step3
swis chard (on left of photo)
Now for green leaves. This is mostly lettuce type vegetables with a few exceptions. Do not feed rabbits head lettuce,or iceberg lettuce. they have no nutrition and too much water. Swiss chard, collard greens and dandelion are all great choices. As a general rule if you can eat it and it looks like lettuce your rabbits can too. give less of this category to your rabbits than the grass.
Step4
fruit tree.
Now for fruits and vegetables. The best ones to plant are low sugar ones. Corn, carrots, sweet potatoes, and apples are good ideas. Any fruit related to these, like pears or radishes are good too. Be careful when feeding fruit and don't give too much. This category should make up the smallest part of your rabbits diet.
Step5
fresh rabbit pellets
As for feeding, always make sure that your rabbits have lots of good grade rabbit pellets available to eat. This will allow them to smooth out there diet and prevent overeating of anything. For grasses and hay you can feed as much as you want. For green leafy vegetables offer a pile about the size of the rabbit a day. And if you are giving fruits or such limit it to a golf ball size per rabbit per day.
