Treat A Hangover Naturally
Treat A Hangover Naturally

The only way to cure a hangover is to wait it out. However, the symptoms can be treated, and here's how.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • pain reliever
  • amino acids
  • vitamins
  • nutrients
  • juice
  • coffee
  • water
  1. Step 1

Pain Reliever - To relieve your headache, willow bark is best because it contains a natural form of the same active ingredient found in aspirin. You can find it in pill form at most health stores.

  2. Step 2

Amino Acids - Using alcohol depletes amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. Eat a small amount of carbohydrates to get these important acids back into your system. Breads, pastas, beans, rice, potatoes, and cereals are high in carbohydrates.

  3. Step 3

B-complex Vitamins - Your body uses these vitamins when it becomes stressed by things like excessive drinking. Alcohol zaps them, but replenishing them by taking a B-complex vitamin will shorten your hangover.

  4. Step 4

Nutrients - If you can, eat a balanced meal. Make sure to avoid fatty, fried foods. A light meal will replace the essential nutrients that were lost while drinking. If you can't stomach that, try eating crackers and honey. Honey is a concentrated form of fructose, which can help to flush out any alcohol remaining in your system.

  5. Step 5

Juice - Fruit juice contains fructose, a form of sugar, which helps burn off alcohol faster. Orange or tomato juice will help speed things along.

  6. Step 6

Coffee - This helps by reducing the swelling of blood vessels that cause headaches. A couple cups should help, but don't drink too much or you'll have coffee & alcohol jitters.

  7. Step 7

Water - Drinking dehydrates your body. Drink plenty of water before going to bed, and then drink more the next morning.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you decide to take an over-the-counter pain reliever remember to avoid the non-aspirin variety. Those pain relievers contain acetaminophen which can hurt your liver when combined with alcohol.
