Step 1
dryer lintIf you own a clothes dryer then you already know of dryer lint. It is the "fuzzy" stuff that your dryer tries to blow through the exhaust and out through the vent when the its filter doesn't catch it. Did you know that it is also highly flammable? Scary to think of, but it is the reason why you should always empty your lint filter after every use of the dryer. However if you are a camper, do not just throw it away. Save it! Since it is flammable it can be used as a good fire starter. A large clump of the dry stuff with some dry kindling over top of it in your fire ring and your campfire will be well on its way.

Step 2
pine conesAnother great source for a fire starter is a pine cone. Actually a bunch of them. I have a couple of pine trees in my yard and every year like clockwork nature has those trees drop their pine cones. I pick them up and save them in a big bucket because they make great fire starters. A small pile of these will get your fire going in no time.

Step 3
fire starterLast but not least, but last for a reason, mass produced fire starters. These fire starters are made up of compressed materials. You put one in the center of your fire ring, place some dry wood on top and then light the fire starter. These are also a great way to get a good fire going. The con to these are that they cost you some money. Not a lot but never the less they aren't free. However they are a great choice when no dry wood can be found, because these things will set almost anything a blaze.
