Step 1
Enzymes
Enzymes exist in raw foods. These enzymes help your body to break down the food and receive nutrition from the food. Cooking destroys these enzymes. For this reason, raw fruits, nuts, and vegetables can be very beneficial to your diet. People with frequent digestive disturbances, such as heartburn, can benefit by incorporating more raw food into their diet. -
Step 2
Micro-Organisms
Raw foods contain bacteria and other micro-organisms that benefit you immune system. This happens by populating the stomach with beneficial organisms and the stomach, or digestive system, is strongly linked to a persons immune system. -
Step 3
Nutrition
It is a well known fact that cooking reduces the nutritional value food. Vitamins and minerals leach out during the cooking process. Eating your fruits, nuts and vegetables raw will ensure that you get the maximum benefit of their nutrients. -
Step 4
Finding Raw Food
Most raw food activists also understand the benefit of eating locally, and eating seasonally. Gardening, attending farmers markets, and shopping from local farms are all good ways of finding accessible raw foods to benefit your diet. Foraging is another way of finding wild, seasonal, raw foods for nutrition. -
Step 5
Goals
Many raw food activists establish a percentage goal for their diet. For example, a person may wish to eat 50% of their food raw. Eating 1/3 of your food in it's raw form is a good goal for beginners.
