Beef Stew
Beef Stew

Cook a delicous beef stew while you work.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1-2 lbs cubed beef
  • 3-4 potatoes (cubed)
  • 3 carrots (sliced)
  • 3 stalks of celery (sliced)
  • 1 cup of pearl onions
  • 1 can of beef broth (may substitute 2 cups of water and beef bullion cubes)
  • 1 clove of garlic (crushed)
  • Thyme
  • Bay leaves
  • Italian seasonings
  • Corn starch
  1. Step 1

Add the meat and vegetables to the crock pot.

  2. Step 2

Pour the beef broth over the meat and vegtables (or beef bullion and water) and then add the spices to taste.

  3. Step 3

Set the slow cooker to high and cook for 6-8 hours.

  4. Step 4

Add 1 Tbs of corn starch to 1/2 cup of cold water and then mix into the stew to thicken. Let sit for 15 minutes, if more thickening is required then add more corn starch. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't be afraid to try new things. If you want to add different vegtables (tomatoes, peas, beans, etc.) go for it.
  • Try using all organic meat and vegtables for a heathier stew.
  • For a fresher tasting stew try using fresh picked, or home grown, herbs: keep in mind that 1 tsp of dried herbs = 2 tsp fresh herbs, so adjust accordingly.
  • To add a little spice to your stew try a hot pepper or two.
