Most avid readers are looking for ways to save money on books. Purchasing books new, at full price can be expensive. There's no need, however, to lay out a lot of money to support your book habit. Follow these steps so save money on books.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Ask for books as gifts.

Don't be tacky about it of course, but chances are when your birthday or the holidays roll around, people are asking you what you want. Answer with 'books'! Either particular books you want or gift cards to your favorite book stores. The gift givers in your life will be thrilled and you'll get a gift that you actually want.

  2. Step 2

    Use coupons.

You can get coupons for books by signing up for frequent shopper cards at the major chains. You can also buy coupons (and gift cards) on eBay (see link below).

  3. Step 3

Shop online with a reward site.

Mr. Rebates currently offers a 5% rebate at Barnes & Noble and a 3% rebate at Border's when you link to those websites through Mr. Rebates. There are other bookselling sites on Mr. Rebates as well. Plus Mr. Rebates will give you $7.50 just for signing up with them (it's free) and you can spend that on books too! (See link in resources section below.)

  4. Step 4

    Use the library.

The ultimate way to save money on books is to go for free! Train yourself to stroll the aisles of your local library instead of the aisles of your favorite bookstore.
