In this article, you'll learn how to jump start a car.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two cars (one that has no battery charge and one that does)
  • Jumper cables
  1. Step 1

    Find out whether your car's battery is under the hood or in the trunk, and whether it is on the driver's or passenger's side of the car. Park the car with a battery charge where the two batteries are somewhat close to each other.

  2. Step 2

    Pop the hoods of the two cars.

  3. Step 3

    Connect the jumper cables to the battery with a charge. The red claw is for the positive (hot) terminal. The black claw is for the negative (ground) terminal.

  4. Step 4
    Shock Hazard

    Connect the jumper cables to the battery with no charge. !DO NOT TOUCH TO TWO CLAWS TOGETHER AFTER THE OTHER CLAWS ARE CONNECTED TO A BATTERY WITH A CHARGE. CHANCE OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!

  5. Step 5

    Wait a few minutes before cranking car with no battery charge.

  • DO NOT LET RED AND BLACK CLAWS TOUCH WHEN CONNECTED TO A BATTERY!
