how to start a succesful dog walking business.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • paper
  • printer
  • computer
  • a dog of your own
  1. Step 1

Get on the computer and start to make your fliers. No one will take your buisness seriously if you write your fliers and typing is much neater. You should put your name, the name of your business, your phone number, what cities you serve and if you are under 18 you should say so on the flier. Don't put the price on there because people will often pay more than you suggest.

you should also list other services you provide such as boarding, grooming and even pet day care. The more you offer the more people will use you

  2. Step 2

You should put your fliers on people cars, neighbors doors and on the outside of mail boxes. You should go to places that dogs often visit such as dog parks, PetSmart, veterinary offices and grooming salons. You can also ask buisness owners if you can post your fliers on their bulletin boards.

  3. Step 3

You can also post ads online. I like to use craigslist and google maps. People will search "dog walkers" so make sure to use proper terminology. Spell check!!

  4. Step 4

You can also get your family dog and take him for walks. If people see you walk your dog daily they might ask if you can walk theirs too.

  5. Step 5

When you get clients make appointments. That way you are not walking 10 dogs at once. I suggest not walking more than 3 dogs at once.

Tips & Warnings
  • charge by how far they want you to walk
  • if the dog has special needs or takes medicine make the clients sign a paper to cover yourself in any legal action
  • charge extra for wild dogs that are not leash trained
  • play with the dogs alittle to tire them out for their owners. They will be more likely to use you again
  • Don't be rude to any client because word will get around that you are a pain to work with
  • Be sure to ask if the dogs are agressive around other dogs
  • Don;t pet sit for dogs that have a history of biting
  • don't ever met a client for the first time by yourself if you are under aged
  • ask an adult before you start your buisness if you are under 18
