How to create text macros and copy them to or from different templates or files.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Microsoft Office 2007
  • MS Word Software

Step1
CREATING MACROS FROM SCRATCH USING THE VISUAL BASIC EDITOR:

1. On the TOOLS menu, point to MACRO, and then click MACROS.
2. In the MACROS-IN list, click the template or document in which you want to store the macro.
3. In the MACRO NAME box, type a name for the macro.
4. Click CREATE to open the Visual Basic Editor.

NOTE: If you give a new macro the same name as an existing built-in command in Microsoft Word, the new macro actions will replace the existing actions. To view a list of macros in Word, point to MACRO on the TOOLS menu, and then click MACROS. In the MACROS-IN list, click WORD COMMANDS.
Step2
COPYING MACROS TO ANOTHER TEMPLATE OR DOCUMENT:

1. On the TOOLS menu, click TEMPLATES AND ADD-INS.
2. Click ORGANIZER, and then click the MACRO PROJECT ITEMS tab.
3. To copy to or from a different template or file, click CLOSE FILE to close the active document and its attached template or to close the NORMAL template. Then click OPEN FILE, and open the template or file you want.
4. Click the items you want to copy in either list, and then click COPY.

NOTE: If you have assigned macros to toolbars, you should also copy the toolbars.
Step3
* SPEECH RECOGNITION - You can use speech recognition to dictate text into any Office program. You can also select menu, toolbar, dialog box (U.S. English only), and task pane items by using your voice. (Task Pane: A window within an Office application that provides commonly used commands. Its location and small size allow you to use these commands while still working on your files.)

Tips & Warnings

  • The Speech Recognition feature is also available in the Simplified Chinese and Japanese language versions of Microsoft Office.
