Buying finger paint for little preschoolers can be hard on the pockets. Doesn't making it at home sound so much more fun? It even saves you time and money. Helps the environment too simply just to store it!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup cold water
  • Food coloring (any color you want).
  1. Step 1

Combined cornstarch, salt, sugar, and water and place it into a pot.

  2. Step 2

Heat over a low setting on your stove stirring constantly for 10 minutes. While stirring you will notice that the mixture seems thin, do not worry it will thicken as you stir.

  3. Step 3

Once mixture has become thick, remove from heat and set to the side to cool.

  4. Step 4

Take cooled mixture and divide it into small cups or containers such as empty apple sauce cups, empty yogurt cups, etc. Once placed into the containers add 2-3 drops of food coloring to each cup and stir.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have your child help by adding the food coloring
  • Use snap lid containers and store in fridge for later use.
  • Never let a child use a stove unattended!
