There are lots of people in martial arts and alot quit and more take there place. But If your serious about it. You can do more to learn what is'nt being taught in your class. Practice and learn everything that happens in class. But you can do extra for yourself.I'm here to teach you where to look. Not that your teacher dos'nt know if you have one but he dos'nt have enough time to teach all of it to you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer, TV, DVD player, Library or some book source. Weapons if you've trained to handle them. Alot of time and hard work.
  1. Step 1

Learn about what martial arts is and culture and history surrounding it. P.S. there are hundreds of martial arts out there so try to learn about as many as possible and figure out what you like and what to advance in.

Go to ask.com and type in a martial art type. Start with the most popular and go down as you learn more. There's striking, throwing-holding types and allot of different variations of how to fight. Because everyone thinks some way is better. Here are some of the more submissive types. Judo, Aikido, Ju-jit-su, Brazilian jujitsu, and the most kicking one is tae kwon do. Kempo is modern street defense and other older traditional ones like gung fu, shorin-ryu, and the most famous martial artist Bruce lee used jut-keen do i think.

  2. Step 2

Search for media or instructions on how to perform the moves, stances and and not just the tutorials. Watch the expert performers to and see what it would look like if you mastered it.

Some places to go to would be expert village, youtube, and ask.com

  3. Step 3

When you have enough information apply what you've learned and start to get into shape with workouts if your not already. Also search online about workouts if you don't know how.

You want to be very fit once you get to the advanced moves. There harder karate kick you must have good leg strength and ability to jump in the air and spin.

Before you begin you should be able to do 15-20 push ups, 30 crunches, jumping jack fast for three minutes and be able to move quickly with coordination.

Use this and do your research and decide what you want to do.

Once you've become proficient with the hand style and learn good body movements you need to learn how to use a weapon. The first weapon you should learn is bo staff, baton, if you have good coordination nun chucks are the way to go. (Foam starting though) later you can use more deadly weapons like sais and swords. Lances and javelins can be used to.

Starting off pick one weapon and stick with it for a long time. You should start off with this. Look at one of my other articles to learn about weapon when there finished.

Bo staffs can start being disatached brooms and a good one to buy is around $20 and tonfas are $15 foam nunchucks are $6 and real ones are $15-25. A good sword is around $400-$800 and there combat efficient.

  4. Step 4

Another thing you can do is watch as many martial art movies as possible. There's a such thing called motor muscle memory. That when see something performed or do something over and over again it becomes automatic and the more you do something the faster you react when needed. That's why martial artist go to class for years. The main reason of going is so you can have time to perform what you know with other people over and over again untell it's perfect untell you don't need to think about it and you learn more as you advanced. Once you learn the classes basic moves, stances and way of doing things you learn very little at a time. 90% of it is perfecting what you already know.

Tips & Warnings
  • Lots of hard work is required to master martial arts but it can be done. To do this it is a must that you take a class and not just do it all on your own. This is just steps to get you more interested in it. What you from that point is up to you.
  • Martial arts was meant to be used to protect people not hurt them. Never attack anyone with what you have learned. Only use a weapon if it's safe and you have training. Never strike another person unless a instructor ask you to safly.
