How to Save Money at CVS Drug Store

If you have a CVS drug store in your area, you have a great way to save money. Follow the steps below to save money month after month.

• CVS Extra Care Rewards Card

1. Join the CVS Extra Care Rewards program by either filling out a brochure in the store or visiting cvs.com. The rewards for this program are Extra Care Bucks, which print on your cash register receipt and work just like cash at CVS drug stores.

2. When you present your Extra Care Rewards card at the time of purchase, you earn 2% back on that purchase. These Extra Care Bucks will print on your receipt every three months.

3. When you present your Extra Care Rewards card when having prescriptions filled at CVS, you earn 1 Extra Care Buck for every 2 prescriptions filled. These Extra Care Bucks will also print on your receipt every three months.

4. Each month, CVS puts out a savings booklet that offers Extra Care Bucks when you purchase certain items. When you purchase the items and present your Extra Care Rewards card at checkout, the Extra Care Bucks print on the bottom of the receipt at the time of purchase. No waiting!

5. Extra Care Bucks can be used toward future purchases at CVS. They work exactly like cash.

6. Some items are free after Extra Care Bucks.

7. You can combine the Extra Care Bucks with a manufacturer's coupon. In some cases this means that you are actually making money on that particular purchase.

8. You can use Extra Care Bucks to purchase other Extra Care Reward items.

Tips & Warnings

• Scan your Extra Care Rewards card at scanners available in CVS stores when you shop. You can extra coupons and rewards this way.
• The CVS rewards program seems complicated at first but you will soon get the hang of it.
• Start by checking the monthly booklet and only purchasing items that are free after Extra Care Bucks. This will give you a feel for the program while limiting your out-of-pocket expense.
• You do have to shop during the reward period in order to get the 2% cash back and prescription Extra Care Bucks to print on your register receipt.
• Extra Care Bucks that print on register receipts have expiration dates so pay close attention.
