E-mail addresses are a must to communicate in today's world. In order to sign up for many websites, you must provide your e-mail address. Unfortunately due to these websites sharing information with their partners, e-mail accounts start to fill up with useless junk. Many people want to change e-mail addresses but are afraid of losing their contacts. Luckily, that is not a problem with MSN. You can sign up for a new MSN account and still keep your e-mail addresses.

Go to MSN.com. The easiest way to sign up is to go directly to MSN's website.

Select Hotmail. Although you may not get an @Hotmail.com account, MSN still refers to their e-mail services as Hotmail. Hit sign up.

Choose the version of Hotmail you want. Windows Live Hotmail is a great free basic email account. Windows Live services gives you access to Hotmail and a lot of great services including: Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Toolbar,Windows Live Spaces,Windows Live Photo Gallery, Windows Live Writer, Windows Live Events, and Windows Live OneCare Family Safety. Windows Live Services is also free. The great thing about the Live services is you don't have to install any of these free services that you don't want to use.

Hit get it. If you chose the Windows Live services, this will take you to a page to download your new applications. If you chose Windows Live Hotmail, this will take you directly to the sign up for e-mail.

Sign up for Windows Live Id. You will be walked through a simple form where you choose your id, password, put in an alternate e-mail, secret questions, and read and accept the terms of service.

Log into your existing e-mail provider to save your e-mail addresses. To save your e-mail addresses, you go to a menu with your contact listed. After finding this menu, simply hit export. This will give you a couple of options for formatting to save your e-mail addresses. The easiest way is to save your e-mail address is .CSV format. Make sure to save in your e-mail addresses in place you can find and with a name you can remember.

Log in MSN using your id and password.

Select options. Look down until you find a selection that says “Customize your contacts” Under this heading is a button that reads “import contacts.” Select this button. If you use Outlook or Outlook Express, download and run Windows Live Contacts Importer.

Select service you are using, and browse to find the contact file that you saved your e-mail addresses in.

Hit “Import contact” button. This will bring your file into your new MSN account. You will see a screen showing how many contacts were imported. This will show you that you have successfully kept your e-mail addresses.

Tips & Warnings
If you use Outlook or Outlook Express, all you have to do is to log into your Hotmail account, and perform step three. Then you download and run Windows Live Contacts Importer. This will help you keep your e-mail addresses with less work.
