Find out what kind of wedding the couple will have. Is it a beach wedding, a wedding in the forest, a destination wedding at Disney World? Most brides and grooms will be married in chapels or churches, but there are a great many who exchange vows at work places, underwater and skydiving, for example. The theme of the wedding itself is a great place to start. If the wedding has a theme the bridal shower can easily be made to match it.

You can choose the theme of the bridal shower by the careers of the couple. For instance if the bride is a zoo keeper you can use the zoo and animals for your theme. Or maybe a firefighter, doctor or police, all would be very easy themes to decorate around. If you do get your theme from a career you've got to make sure that they love what they do for a living and that both the bride and groom can be included in it.

Think about the couple hobbies and passions. The bride may be an avid golfer or she may have a collection of some sort. For instance if the bride loves penguins and collects them, you can use that for a theme.

If you hve still come up with nothing that matches the couple, try having a fairy tale theme with a " they lived happily ever after" as a catch phrase. You could have the cake made to look like a castle with the rest of the decor to match. Favorite movies, or times in history that interest the couple could also be used. Remember the main thing is the theme must have a strong connection to the couple.
