How to Keep Fleas From Biting Your Dog

Fleas are extremely annoying small pests. They live off the blood of mammals and birds. Often fleas make their way into your home on the backs of your beloved dog. The fleas are then able to next in your carpet, couch, and even bed. If you have a flea outbreak in your house, the first step to getting rid of the breakout is to treat your dogs. Luckily it is very easy to keep fleas from biting your dogs.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Wash your dogs in Dawn original formula detergent. Dawn is as an effective flea treatment as harsh expensive flea dips. Dawn is your first step in preventing fleas from biting your dog.

  2. Step 2

    Use a flea preventative such as Frontline or Revolution. You can purchase these at your local vet's or pet store.This will go to work almost immediately to stop fleas from biting your dog.

  3. Step 3

    Wash your dog's bedding in hot water to get rid of any fleas that may be in their bedding.

  4. Step 4

    Put ceder around your dog's bedding. Ceder chips make a great flea repellent because fleas can not stand the smell of ceder and will stay away from it.

  5. Step 5

    Use an flea killer with insect growth regulator. The most effective place to use this spray will be in the corners, under carpet, and into furniture. You may want to consider using a fogger to effectively kill fleas in all stages of growth.

  6. Step 6

    Put diatomaceous earth where the dogs are kept. Put diatomaceous earth in the shady spots to help kill fleas where they are stronger.

  • Keep everything extremely clean for two weeks. This will ensure that you can remove all fleas and their life cycles.
