Step 1
Watch old episodes of the show. Carefully study all of the episodes from past seasons. Take notes on what the judges praised, and what made them send some contestants home. Pay particular attention to the winners and what made them stand out and win the prize.

Practice your runway walk. A good runway walk is extremely important. It can be the reason one girl stays and another gets sent home. Watch runway shows and try to mimic the walks of the top models. Practice walking in very high stiletto heels with a book balanced on your head, and walk by putting one foot in front of the other.

Step 3
Practice posing in front of the mirror. A good model will have many different poses at her disposal. Look through top fashion magazines and try to replicate the poses. Do the poses in front of a mirror so that you can see what works for your face and what doesn't.

Step 4
Be open and honest. Don't hide any important facts from the judges and show producers because any secret information may be grounds for elimination. Also, be open emotionally with the judges. Past episodes have shown that the girls who showed their true selves and weren't afraid of being open emotionally were the ones to succeed.

Step 5
Make friends with the other girls and enjoy your experience. This will show the judges that not only are you beautiful, but that you are also confident and get along well with others. In the modeling world, you will meet many people and it will help your chances to advance in your career if you make friends and connections with prominent people. Your confidence will also make you stand out in front of the judges.
