Origami is the ancient Japanese art of paper folding. Origami animals are fun to make for both children and adults. This is a time honored tradition, and many designs are often passed on for generations. This endearing turtle is easy to make. Once you master the simple folds, you'll be able to create origami turtles in about five minutes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Fold the paper in half diagonally.
Step2
Open the paper back up, and fold flaps to the center line.
Step3
Fold the bottom point up to the top point.
Step4
Unfold it. Refold the bottom point to about halfway to the top point. Fold the bottom point to the crease created by that fold.
Step5
Fold top point to the middle of the two flaps. Then fold the bottom of the top point back up. This is called a mountain valley fold, and this creates the turtle's head.
Step6
Fold inner flaps out.
Step7
Bring the bottom tip halfway up.
Step8
Fold the bottom tip down half way to form a tail.
Step9
Fold the two upper edges towards the inside to create feet.
Step10
Turn the paper over to see your finished turtle.

Tips & Warnings

  • Teach this to children when they have time to focus on the fun.
  • Don't rush this process. It doesn't take long, but you should take your time with it.
