How to Draw a Box Shaped Anime Eye

Box shaped anime eyes are probably the most common anime eyes for artists and cartoonists to draw. Simple, large and cute, these eyes are drawn to express an enormous amount of emotion and personality within a character. Read more to learn how easy it is to draw box shaped anime eyes.

Things You'll Need

• Drawing pencil
• Drawing paper
• Pencil eraser
• Graphics tablet
• Graphics program

Instructions

1. 

   Draw a box to act as a guideline for the eye.

2. 

   Draw a curve that extends slightly beyond the top corners of the box.

3. 

   Draw a curve that extends slightly beyond the bottom corners of the box. Both eyelids will look the same for this particular eye.

4. 

   Add curling lines at the top right and bottom right part of the box respectively. Draw an oval, with the top and bottom of the oval drawn with eyelids.

5. Erase the box. The guideline for the box eye is no longer needed.

Tips & Warnings

• Shade, color, or add screen tones to the cornea to cause it to stand out.
