Exfoliation is one of the quickest ways to achieve a healthy glow to the face and body. By removing the surface layer of dead skin cells, you increase circulation and the skin becomes healthier, leaving a healthy, shiny glow. Spas often provide facial treatments and many of these contain ingredients such as essential oils, fruits, milk and honey. Another ingredient often found in spa facial treatments is sugar. Sugar makes a great exfoliant and will help slough off dead skin. Now, you can create you own healthy facial scrubs using simple household sugar and oil.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of sweet almond oil
  • water
  • towel

    Mix Ingredients

  1. Step 1

Mix 1 cup of sugar with 1/2 cup of sweet almond oil. You can substitute other oils if you prefer or even use your favorite facial cleanser and simply add the sugar.

  2. Step 2

Blend the sugar and oil until it has a nice consistency. You want the sugar to remain a bit grainy, so that it will gently slough off the dead skin cells. However, you do not want it to be so rough that it is abrasive or scratches the skin.

  3. Step 3

Apply the sugar and oil blend to your face, neck and throat. You might even want to use some on your hands to slough off dry or dead skin. Be careful not to scrub vigorously. Use a circular motion and work the scrub into your forehead, cheeks, chin and neck. Avoid the eye area completely. This skin is delicate and should never be exfoliated with a scrub.

  4. Step 4

Rinse the face using warm water. You do not want the water to be hot as this opens pores and can damage the skin. Keep the water warm and finish with a nice cool splash of water to close pores.

  5. Step 5

Use any remainder scrub on legs or in the shower if you like for a completely revitalizing total body scrub. When finished using a sugar body scrub always finish with a cool rinse and pat skin dry with a clean towel.

Tips & Warnings
