This is a great rhombus design that is unique in knitted articles. It requires the knowledge of a basic knit and purl stitch, as well as how to cable both forward and back. Instructions

      Choose the yarn you want to work with and needles that match the weight of your yarn (see yarn packaging for needle size suggestions).

      For this panel, you will need to cast on your 12 stitches for the rhombus design and then an even number of stitches both before and after, which you'll knit in as stockinette background (example: 12 plus 4 stitches on either side equals 20 stitches).

      Knit or purl the stitches before and after the design to keep it in stockinette stitch. For the middle 12 stitches (the rhombus) follow these instructions:Row 1: (Right Side) Knit the entire row.Row 2: Purl.Row 3: Cable 4 back, knit 4, cable 4 forward.Row 4: Purl the entire row.Row 5: Knit the entire row.Row 6: Purl the entire row.Row 7: Knit 2, cable 4 forward, cable 4 back, knit 2.Row 8: Purl the entire row.

      Repeat these rows until your piece reaches desired length.

      Bind off, preferably using the basic bind-off.
