Purchase a live trap for your rabbit problem. These are available at most farm and feed stores as well as several places online. The trap will be a long metal cage with some pulleys and a trap door. Set this trap where you have the biggest problems with rabbits, traditionally the yard or garden.

Choose some food to load the trap with. A small assortment of bread and vegetables should be suitable to lure the rabbit into the trap. There will be a plate at the far end attached to the trap door where you should set the food. When the rabbit begins nibbling, this will activate the door.

Set the trap by picking up the door and locking it into place. It is a good idea to make sure you are setting it properly by poking the plate with a stick to ensure that the door swings closed.

Check the trap frequently. Rabbits are clever animals and might not fall for the trap right away. Whenever you come back to check, be very quiet so you do not scare away any potential visitors to the rabbit trap.

Remove the trap once you have trapped a rabbit. Wear thick, protective gloves to prevent the animal from biting. While rabbits are cute, they can get scared in a trap and become violent even though they are not in pain. Take the trap somewhere far away from your home and release the rabbit.
