How to Make Popcorn Pop Faster
Every now and then, you'll get a truly stubborn batch of popcorn kernels. Commercial popcorn producers work hard to ensure high quality batches, so you're most likely to encounter this problem when popping popcorn you've grown yourself. If you're having trouble getting your batch of popcorn to pop up, just follow these steps and bring your kernels up to speed. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Put about a single batch of kernels into an airtight container like a jar or plastic tub. Drizzle a little cool water into the container, adding just enough so that it doesn't pool significantly at the bottom of the jar or tub. Seal the container off and place it in the refrigerator overnight.

About three hours prior to popping your corn, remove the container from the refrigerator and allow it to warm up to room temperature.

3
About one hour prior to popping, fill your spray bottle with warm water. Spread out your kernels in a single layer on a baking sheet. Spray them lightly with warm water and let them sit out until you're ready to pop.

Pop your kernels as you normally would, using a hot air popper, kettle, microwave or other system. They should pop up much faster, and you should see far fewer burned, unpopped kernels.

Tips & Warnings
If using a hot air popper or other popping device, always follow the manufacturer's instructions.
If you accidentally add too much water to the container, empty the container with a large spoon and discard the bottom layer that has been submerged and soaked.
