The ancient Japanese art of origami isn't restricted only to colorful strips of paper. All you need to make this beautiful origami heart is any bill, be it $1 or $100. Giving a folded origami heart made out of a dollar bill can be a practical, romantic gift. Instead of buying someone a gift certificate next Valentine's Day, why not give them a heart made from a $100 bill? Follow the steps below to turn your loose bills into a gift your friends, family members and loved ones will be thrilled to recieve.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dollar bill or similar sized piece of paper
  1. Step 1

Place the dollar on a flat surface with the president's face side up. Fold the bottom edge up to the top edge, making a crease in the middle of the bill. Unfold, and fold the bottom edge up to the crease, in the middle of the bill.

  2. Step 2

Fold the right edge of the bill to the left edge of the bill, making a crease in the middle of the bill. Unfold, and fold the bottom right edge up to the crease, creating what will be the right side of the heart's point at the bottom. Bring the left edge up to meet the right edge in the center of the bill.

  3. Step 3

Flip the bill over and fold the left edge towards the center, slightly. It should meet with another edge about half an inch away from it. Do the same with the right edge.

  4. Step 4

Fold both top sides down to the edge of the side that reads "United States of America." Fold the left and right corners of the top of the heart down, like you are dog-earing a page in a book. Fold the two inside corners towards the outside, to meet their respective outer corners. This creates the two top curves of the heart.

  5. Step 5

Flip the heart over and you're done.

Tips & Warnings
  • As these measurements are not exact, you may have to play around with your folds in order to get the correct proportions on your heart.
