The popularity of Texas Holdem Poker has soared thanks to the television coverage of the World Series of Poker. Many poker players fail to realize there are other versions of Hold 'em than Texas or Omaha Hold 'em. The Home Hold 'em Poker variation was created to add more betting rounds to the traditional Texas Hold 'em Poker variation. This can increase the size of the pots, and limit the amount of bluffing in Home Hold 'em, when compared with the better known Texas and Omaha versions of Hold 'em

How To Play Home Hold Em Poker

  1. Step 1

Gather your friends together for a home poker game. One of the great things about playing Home Hold 'em poker is that the number of players is just about as large as the table you wish to use. The ideal number is between six and eight players.

  2. Step 2

Deal two face down cards to each player. Also deal five face down cards in the center of the table. After the five cards have been dealt to the center of the table, each player can look at their own two cards.

  3. Step 3

Flip over the first card in the center of the table and begin the first betting round of the Home Hold Em Game. The player to the left of the dealer is the first to bet.

  4. Step 4

Flip over the second card in the center of the table and begin the second betting round of the Home Hold Em Game. The player two seats of the dealer is the first to bet.

  5. Step 5

Flip the third card in the center of the table. In this round the player sitting three seats to the left of the dealer begins the wagering.

  6. Step 6

Reveal the fourth card in the center of the table. Have the player sitting four seats to the left start the fourth wagering round.

  7. Step 7

Flip over the fifth and final card in the center of the table. Conduct a final round of betting, with the player seated five seats to the left of the dealer being the first player to bet.

  8. Step 8

Reveal your hand and determine the winner. All the players in the game of Home Hold 'm that have not folded reveal their cards and declare their hand. Each player can use as many cards from their hand and the center of the table to form their best five card poker hand. The player with the best poker hand wins the pot.

Tips & Warnings
  • This version of Home Hold 'em Poker is different in other variations as it limits the amount of chasing that is done by players with flush and straight draws. Bluffing is also less common in this game due to the number of wagering rounds.
  • As in standard Texas Hold 'em, be aware of the risk of straights and flushes after three cards are revealed on the table. This is especially true if they are all the same suit, or close enough to each other that two hole cards can fill in a straight.
