Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Spa brochure
  • Budget for group
  • Appropriate, wrinkle-resistant clothing
  • Bags to fit in locker
  1. Step 1

Choose a date. Find a time that works for you and everyone in your party. A day spa at a hotel or resort will often be less busy on a weekday, particularly in the mornings, so you may want to consider this for your outing.

  2. Step 2

Find out all the services that the spa offers, and the costs. Many offer different types of massage, body wraps, and facials designed for different skin types and needs. Check out the spa's website, pick up a brochure, or have one sent to you. Share the information with your group so you can all select the services that most appeal to you. Be sure to choose back-up choices in case the one you want is fully booked.

  3. Step 3

Learn about the spa's other facilities. Decide which facilities interest you and if they are included in your spa visit.

  4. Step 4

Plan for meals. Make sure to work meals into your plan, either before, after, or between services.

  5. Step 5

Find out about any special requirements your group has. Are there any allergies, mobility issues, or anything that the spa needs to accommodate?

  6. Step 6

Figure out your budget. Often day spas will offer package deals that may work better than ordering services separately. Decide what you can afford before making the appointments. Consider choosing less expensive options if you're going over-budget, like a manicure instead of a body wrap, or a half-hour massage instead of a 50 minute one. If everyone is wanting to spend less, consider a half day trip with just a couple of services and lunch. Any spa day activity will be rewarding and relaxing, so there's no need to overspend and cause yourself unneeded stress.

  7. Step 7

Coordinate with your group on a schedule. Make a plan so that you can stay together as much as possible. For example, do massages and scrubs in the morning, have lunch by the pool, and then go for manicures and pedicures.

  8. Step 8

Make appointments well in advance. If possible, have one person make the appointments for everyone, so you can have the scheduler help book you with coordinating times. The closer you get to the date, the harder it will be for the scheduler to accommodate all of your preferences, so try to work this out weeks or even a month or more in advance. Let them know of any special needs or requirements so the spa can plan ahead as well.

  9. Step 9

Plan your outfits. You'll often have a small locker to store your personal items, so bring clothes that don't wrinkle easily and bags that aren't too bulky to fit into a small space. Consider what you'll be doing that day and if you need workout clothes, a swimsuit, or a dress for a formal dinner. Working it out ahead of time will help save you the last-minute packing that usually leads to you forgetting some important item.

  10. Step 10

Call to confirm appointments a few days before, to make sure your group is all set to go.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure the order of your day spa schedule makes sense. You probably don't want to swim right after eating, exercise after a massage, or get your nails done before a body wrap. Evaluate your choices and choose the best order to get the most out of your day spa services.
  • Print out the prices from the website or bring your spa brochure on the day of your appointments. Often prices unexpectedly change, and if you have proof of what prices you booked at, they will usually honor that lower price.
