How to Get Wax Off Carpet
-
1
Crack a tray of ice. Place the ice cubes in a plastic bag. Place the bag of ice directly on top of the wax on the carpet. Allow the bag of ice to remain until the wax has completely hardened.
-
2
Remove the bag of ice. Empty the ice into the sink and discard the plastic into the appropriate recycle bin.
-
-
3
Break up the hardened wax with the putty knife being careful not to damage the carpet fibers. Remove as much of the hardened wax as possible and discard. Vacuum any small pieces of wax that remain.
-
4
Plug the electric iron into an appropriate electrical outlet. Turn the iron onto a Warm setting.
-
5
Tear open the clean brown paper bag. Lay the bag directly on top of the wax on the carpet. Insure there is no printing of any kind on the bag.
-
6
Place the warm iron on top of the brown paper bag directly over the wax. Leave the iron in place long enough to allow the wax to melt. The melted wax will be absorbed by the paper bag. Move the bag so a fresh section of the bag is now over the wax and repeat the process until all of the wax is removed.
-
7
Apply a solution of household carpet cleaner on the area affected by the wax according to the manufacturer’s directions. Blot dry with a damp sponge to rinse the cleaner from the carpet.

Tips & Warnings
When cleaning a carpet stain, blot rather than rub. Rubbing can cause excess wear on your carpet and spread the stain.
Never apply a hot iron to carpet. The heat can lock stains into the carpet or melt synthetic carpet fibers.
Never use paper with any printing. The ink can be transferred to your carpet by the heat.
