How to Eliminate Insects

Whenever the weather warms up you can be certain that insects will arrive shortly. No matter if you are dealing with flies, mosquitoes, locusts or fire ants, insects are a problem. Not only are many of them annoying and likely to leave you with painful bites, but many will chew apart gardens and flowers.

Things You’ll Need:

• Insecticide
• Bug zapper
• Citronella torches

1. Spray your property with insecticide. Visit your local plant and outdoor specialists to select a formula that fits your needs. Figure out which insects you want to remove. There are different sprays for different bugs. In addition, if you have a garden or plants to keep alive, some insecticides will be out of the question because they will also kill your plants.
2. Purchase an electric bug zapper for your yard. These small cages illuminate a series of bright blue lights that bugs can’t help but be attracted to. Once they touch the bulb, however, they are electrocuted. These are dangerous items and should be kept out of the reach of children.
3. Set up a series of citronella torches around your yard to ward off mosquitoes. The fragrance emitted by these flames, while pleasant to human noses, turns off the small blood sucking bugs and keeps you free of the pesky insects within a certain radius.
4. Install screens in all of your windows, if your insect problem is inside the house rather than outdoors. This allows fresh air to flow through your home but is generally small enough to prevent insects from entering.
5. Hang a bird feeder in your back yard, if you are looking for an organic way to keep the bug population down in your yard. Birds are bugs’ natural enemies. Wherever there are birds, they will be snacking on winged insects. Attracting birds with a feeder will help keep the insects away.
