Visit your local pet store and find toothpaste that is specially formulated for dogs. The doggie dental business is booming and there will most likely be several options for you to choose from. Some with special focuses tailored for specific canine needs.

Squeeze a small dab of toothpaste on your finger and let the puppy sniff and lick it off. The toothpastes are flavored so dogs will like them much like a biscuit. Your dog may grow to look forward to toothpaste time. This small introduction will allow you to be more invasive with the paste.

Place a generous dollop of dog toothpaste on your finger. Slip your finger into the dog's mouth and rub the teeth and gums with the paste. This will allow your puppy to view the process of brushing as pleasant and fun once they know that they enjoy the taste and there is nothing to fear.

Purchase a soft bristled children's toothbrush at your local pharmacy or grocery store. Apply the puppy toothpaste to the brush and begin scrubbing in the same motion and coverage you would apply to your own teeth.
