For smooth tootsies, you can't just wash with an ordinary bar of soap. Your feet need exfoliation and to be pampered with a soothing scent to feel clean, smooth and moisturized. The following is a soap recipe using items you can buy at a local craft store and even the grocery store. With a soothing peppermint scent and a special side of the bar for exfoliating, your feet will be begging for more!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Block of clear glycerin melt-and-pour soap
  • Peppermint essential oils
  • Soap and candle coloring, if desired
  • Coarse rock salt
  • Square plastic dish

Step1
Cut a block of glycerin melt-and-pour soap (available at craft stores) into small cubes. Place in the microwave and heat for 10 seconds. Continue heating for a few seconds at a time until the cubes have completely melted into a liquid.
Step2
Add a few drops of peppermint essential oil and a few drops of soap coloring, if desired. Mix thoroughly with a spoon. Continue until you have reached the scent and color strength desired.
Step3
Pour rock salt into the bottom of a square, plastic container. The salt should be covering the entire bottom of the dish in a thin layer.
Step4
Pour glycerin mixture into the plastic dish, on top of the salt. Allow to cool.
Step5
Pop soap out of the dish once it has completely hardened. Use a large knife to cut the soap into smaller bars.
Step6
Use your foot soap. Your soap will have one rough side, where the rock salt has hardened onto the soap, and one smooth side, where the soap has cooled on its own. Use the rough side for exfoliating rough heels and calluses, and the smooth side to build up a nice, minty lather.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful when working with hot, liquid glycerin soap.
