Instructions

    • 1

Cut a block of glycerin melt-and-pour soap (available at craft stores) into small cubes. Place in the microwave and heat for 10 seconds. Continue heating for a few seconds at a time until the cubes have completely melted into a liquid.

    • 2

Add a few drops of peppermint essential oil and a few drops of soap coloring, if desired. Mix thoroughly with a spoon. Continue until you have reached the scent and color strength desired.

    • 3

Pour rock salt into the bottom of a square, plastic container. The salt should be covering the entire bottom of the dish in a thin layer.

    • 4

Pour glycerin mixture into the plastic dish, on top of the salt. Allow to cool.

    • 5

Pop soap out of the dish once it has completely hardened. Use a large knife to cut the soap into smaller bars.

    • 6

Use your foot soap. Your soap will have one rough side, where the rock salt has hardened onto the soap, and one smooth side, where the soap has cooled on its own. Use the rough side for exfoliating rough heels and calluses, and the smooth side to build up a nice, minty lather.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful when working with hot, liquid glycerin soap.
