Instructions

    • 1

Locate two pieces of Plexiglas that are of the same dimensions. They should be at least 2" larger than the picture on all sides. For a contemporary look, use Plexiglas that is two times the size of the picture.

    • 2

Clamp both pieces of Plexiglas together on all four sides. On each corner, measure in 1" from the top and 1" from the side, creating a right angle. Drill a hole through both pieces of Plexiglas, in each of the four corners. Measure the length and width of the Plexiglas and mark the center of one of the pieces.

    • 3

Take your photo or print and apply spray adhesive to its back. Be sure to cover the entire back of the item. Place the photo or print in the center of the Plexiglas piece you just marked.

    • 4

Place the other piece of Plexiglas on top, making sure all sides are flush. Put a nut through each of the four drilled holes and secure in place with a bolt. Tighten each one to secure it.

    • 5

Place the finished Plexiglas picture frame on a table or hang it on a wall. To hang, wrap picture frame-wire around the back side of the top nuts, and hang as you would any regular frame.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use thick Plexiglas if the frame is going to be placed on a table. When the two pieces are joined, it will be able to stand up.

  • For a different look, spray the back of the frame with frosted spray paint.

  • Do not over-tighten the nuts and bolts.

  • Always wear protective eye wear when using a drill.

Rosemary, Thank you so much for this How To. I am a fine artist and my art projects are 3-D in nature. I have been struggling with how to "frame" my works without spending over $100. You have given me the solution. In spite of your instructions being how to place artwork between the two sheets of plexiglass and "sandwiching" them in with screws and nuts, I have done a take-off on your design and put "spacers" between the plexiglass sheets so that the artwork can be shown but not crushed. It is an inexpensive way to "frame" my artwork, keep it clean and dust-free and still allow people to view it from all sides!! Brilliant!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
